One date is locked in ink: Sundance Film Festival 2027 runs January 21–31 in Boulder, Colorado—the first edition to call Boulder home. Everything else on the calendar below is still taking shape. Bookmark this page; we update it the moment Sundance.org makes anything official.

Heads-up: All pre-festival milestone dates listed here are based on historical patterns and have not yet been officially announced for 2027. Treat them as rough guides only, and always confirm at sundance.org.

The 2027 Milestone Timeline

Below is a living checklist of every major gate on the road to Boulder. Status labels will flip from Upcoming to On Sale or Passed as each date is confirmed.

### Press & Industry Accreditation - Status: Upcoming — date not yet announced - Historically, press and industry credential applications have opened in the early-to-mid fall, often around September or October. - If you're covering the festival, watch sundance.org and the official Sundance newsletter for the application window.

### Pass & Package On-Sale - Status: Upcoming — date not yet announced - Multi-day passes and packages have historically gone on sale in late October or early November—typically before single tickets. - Passes generally offer the best per-screening value and first access to popular titles, so setting a reminder pays off.

### Film Lineup & Program Announcement - Status: Upcoming — date not yet announced - In past years, the official program has been revealed in early December, roughly six to eight weeks before opening night. - The announcement usually covers competition sections, premieres, and special events all at once—a big moment for planning your schedule.

### Single-Ticket On-Sale - Status: Upcoming — date not yet announced - Individual screening tickets have historically become available shortly after the lineup is announced, often within a day or two. - Popular premieres and closing-night films tend to sell out quickly, so have your sundance.org account ready in advance.

### Festival Opens — Boulder - Status: Confirmed - January 21, 2027 — Opening night in Boulder, Colorado.

### Festival Closes - Status: Confirmed - January 31, 2027 — Awards and closing events wrap up the eleven-day run.

Why the Timeline Matters in Boulder

Boulder is a smaller market than Park City, and accommodation options are more limited. The earlier you lock in housing relative to your ticket purchases, the better. Historically, the most centrally located hotels and vacation rentals near festival venues fill up fast once the lineup drops and single tickets go live.

We'll be tracking every announcement here, so check back often—especially in the fall of 2026.
