Skiing & Snowboarding Near Boulder (Sundance in January)

Sundance lands in peak ski season, and Boulder is a great base. The closest resort is right up the canyon; the big-name resorts are a day trip on I-70.

Eldora — the local hill (~45 min)

Eldora Mountain Resort near Nederland is the closest resort to Boulder — roughly 45 minutes up Boulder Canyon (weather permitting). It's on the Ikon Pass, and there's a seasonal ski shuttle plus RTD bus service toward Nederland, which helps you skip parking.

I-70 resorts (day trips, ~1.5–2.5 hrs)

Winter Park — via US-40 over Berthoud Pass; ~1.5–2 hrs. Ikon.
Copper Mountain — off I-70; ~1.5–2 hrs. Ikon.
Arapahoe Basin & Loveland — closest I-70 options (~1.25–2 hrs); independent passes.
Breckenridge / Keystone / Vail — Vail Resorts (Epic Pass); ~2–2.5 hrs.

Roughly: Ikon covers Eldora, Winter Park, and Copper; Epic covers Breckenridge, Keystone, Vail, and Beaver Creek; Loveland and Arapahoe Basin run their own tickets/passes. Buy lift tickets ahead online — walk-up prices are steep. Always verify current pass details before you buy.

Winter driving: I-70 gets heavy weekend traffic and weather closures; Colorado's Traction Law can require snow tires or chains. Leave early, check COtrip.org for road conditions, and give yourself margin to get back for evening screenings.
